When the Ginza Hohsen, oldest Japanese food establishment considering new location in the heart of the Colombo City, hotel Galadari proffered their premises,
This place was earlier being employed as a leading privet bank, two story old bank office converting into a Japanese restaurant which was very exciting,
Two story space with enormous flight of stairs, thick rock-solid walls which was earlier used as the bank safe must use more refined way than its previous purpose.
Instead of inflowing from double height space which the stairway makes more protuberant than it anticipated, which is obviously not very Japanese we created very human scale wooden entrance from the opposite side and it brilliantly worked, the restaurant ingress of course gives the nostalgic sensation of traditional Japanese café in old Capital Kyoto
Japanese food considers as a living heritage by the UNESCO, preparation of the food was extremely unique kitchen must be perfect with Japanese standards. The regular customers including the Japanese ambassador’s family mostly gazing for flawless in the cuisine as well the ambiance.
The Upper floor has preserved for Teppanyaki experience and privet feasting with Tatami flooring. The Ground floor includes kitchen, sushi bar, business lounge, sake bar and fine dining.
The total makeover costs 30 million including furniture. kitchen items, teppanyaki grills and utensils in 2020.
This was a team effort with large number of sub-contractors; furniture, timber and bamboo work locally manufactured as per Japanese standards.
